Horror in Moscow Idaho

On the morning of November 13th, 2022 at the University of Idaho, which is located in the town of Moscow, ID in the Northwest portion of the state, a gruesome murder took place of 4 college students in their senior year. Three of the students were female and one was a male. The male was the boyfriend of one of the female victims. Two of the victims were killed on the 2nd floor of a three story house. Those two victims were the boyfriend and girlfriend. Their names were Ethan and Xana. The boyfriend did not live at the house. He was visiting with his girlfriend. It is estimated they arrived at the back at house around 1:45 am from a night of partying at a local fraternity. The other two Victims were on the 3rd floor.[1] They were highschool friends. Their names were Madison and Kaylee. It is also estimated they arrived at the house around 1:45 am from a night out at a local sports bar called the Corner Club bar. The police most likely used cell phone triangulation to calculate the return arrival times. There were two other girls in the house on the first floor at the time of the killing. They arrived back at the house on the night of the killing around 1:00 am. Their names are Bethany and Dylan. Evidently they slept though the entire event. Many have questioned their alibi. However, let us remember when Ted Bundy killed at the Chi Omega sorority house in Tallahassee Florida on January 15th 1978, similarly none of the other girls in the building heard anything. Currently, the Moscow, Idaho police have estimated the slaughter took place between 3:00 am and 4:00 am after some college Saturday night activities. The weapon in this gruesome act is suspected to have been a military style combat fixed blade knife such as a Ka-Bar with a serrated edge [2]. The stabbings were in the upper torso area and the victims were in bed according to Cathy Mabbutt, the Latah County coroner [3]. Each of the victims were stabbed more than one time. A highly active investigation is underway.

The house were the four victims lived was a split level six bedroom three bath home about 2200 square feet. The home had a keypad on the front door and two sliding glass doors around the backside [4]. One sliding door was on the ground level in the backside which is elevated compared to the front side, and is currently assumed to be the entrance that the killer used to enter the home. A second sliding glass door is on the third floor balcony not accessible from the ground [5]. The order of the killing has not been determined. The Current theory suggest the killer first killed Ethan and Xena on the second floor back room and then moved upstairs for the next two. However, once blood analysis has been completed it may be possible to tell who was killed first, second, third, and forth, because the knife would have to carry each persons blood into the next person, so the first person wouldn't have anyone else blood, but the second person would have the first persons blood plus their own blood and on down the line.

Cathy Mabbutt, the Latah County coroner has estimated the murders took place between 3:00 am and 4:00 am . According to reports the two girls, who were upstairs, Madison and Kaylee, tried to text message an on again off again boyfriend named Jack between 2:45 am and 3:00 am. Kaylee tried his number first at least six times and Madison second three times. Jack did not respond. He told the police he was asleep. Where the text messages a cry for help? The police have ruled Jack to not be a suspect. Kaylee and Jack shared a dog together. His name was Murphy. Murphy the dog was at the scene during the slaying. Remember, during the OJ Simpson trial Nicole Brown Simpson's dog, an Akita, was a piece of the puzzle. The barking dog with blood on his paws lead Boztepe and Bettina, who were neighbors, to the murdered Nicole Simpson, who was lying in a river of blood. During the Simpson trial it was discussed that the killer would have known the dog, So, we see here in this murder. Where was the dog during the killing, and where were his paw prints? Did the dog bark? It is hard to image that a dog, in a house were four people are killed by a knife, were blood flows everywhere like a river of blood, doesn't bark. Another key aspect of the OJ Simpson trial was blood splatter evidence. In the Moscow, Idaho knife by murder scene, blood has been reported everywhere and on the walls. Two of the victims have defensive wounds, thus they were fighting back much like Ron Goldman was fighting back at the Nicole Simpson home. So, how does the killer walk away without leaving any blood splatter evidence? At the Nicole Simpson murder there was a blood trail leading to a road behind the house that the killer used to escape. By looking at the blood droplets the forensic scientist where able to tell the direction the killer was moving. Here, four people have been murdered. Blood is everywhere [6]. There is so much blood it is dripping down the walls outside of the house. The Killer had to have left a blood trail or taken a shower and changed clothes before they left, which seems unlikely. Where is the blood evidence outside the house on the trail the killer used to escape?

Currently the Moscow, Idaho police have ruled out the obvious suspects which would include the two surviving roommates, and Jack the boyfriend. When the 911 call is made sometime close to noon the two roommates are in the house with a hand full of friends. Is Jack among the people in the house at this time? For some reason not yet disclosed, the two surviving roommates called these friends before calling the police. Lets be in perspective. This is a brutal knife murder. Blood is draining everywhere and would have been still fluid the next morning. This is a mystery as to why the police were not called first. Various other people who were caught on video camera during the victims transit home have also been ruled out as suspects. Statistics complied over the years demonstrate that the killer is usually someone close to the victim or an acquaintance of the victims. Thus, far more people are killed by acquaintances than strangers.

Where is the killer? So far the investigative authorities have expanded the crime scene twice. The initial crime scene was to protect the building. However days later, the first expansion was to protect the parking lot up front. The police were looking for tire tracks. The second and most recent expansion has been to protect the parking lot and wooded area behind the building. Attorney Dale Carson from Jacksonville Florida said on the podcast "Crime Stories with Nancy Grace" that the perpetrator was a serial killer and had a look out position in the brush behind the house [7]. In addition, Attorney Carson had questions regarding crime scene management. The stranger in the bush theory is certainly plausible, but if this is to the case then where is the evidence of the strangers exodus from the murder house? Nancy Grace makes the point with Joe Scott Morgan a Professor of Forensics that the Killer would have had bloody shoes. So, where are the foot prints? if the killer had bloody footprints then an exit trail should have been detected very early on, as mentioned earlier, just like in the Nicole Simpson murder. If the police had exit foot prints or blood splatter evidence then the crime scene would have been expanded from the beginning. It seems impossible that a killer who committed multiple murders of this magnitude in a short time by fixed blade knife could have exited the property without a trace and without alerting the dog. The outside stranger theory only holds if there is evidence, for example blood, of an exodus from the murder house.
